Emmerdale’s Ruby Fox-Miligan’s downfall could be sealed after the death of Ethan Anderson.
Ethan tragically collapsed during a heartfelt conversation with his father Charles Anderson in Tuesday night’s episode (May 28), just before his court appearance. Despite being rushed to hospital, he sadly passed away, leaving the Anderson family devastated.
Fans will recall that Ethan was the victim of a hit and run by Ruby, who ran him over after he left her son Nicky Miligan for dead in a terrifying car crash outside the village. However, until now, no one else knew that Ruby was behind the wheel.

In tonight’s episode (Wednesday, May 29), Ruby grappled with her guilt and finally confessed to her husband Caleb Miligan and son Nicky that she was responsible for the hit and run – and feared she may have caused Ethan’s death.
Nicky appeared consumed by guilt upon learning the truth and quickly left the room as Caleb feared he could spill on his wife’s involvement in the accident. Expressing his concern, he told Ruby that the only thing they had done right was raising Nicky to be better than them – but will Nicky spill the beans to Charles and Claudette Anderson about what Ruby has done?, reports the Mirror.
Charles is understandably heartbroken over the loss of his son. When speaking about the emotional storyline, actor Kevin Mathurin hinted he could be open to taking his own revenge, one reason why Ruby might meet a nasty end.
Kevin revealed: “Charles has lost his one and only constant, who has been in his life throughout when others have come and went. Charles needs to deal with a life without Ethan.”
He added: “It’s going to be devastating for Charles to deal with. It was devastating to know Emile was leaving.” Speaking about their relationship off screen, Kevin said: “We joined the show together, and we sort of bonded straight away – and he’s been amazing playing my son.
“He’s a good mate, and we’ve had some great moments. It’s been an amazing journey but it’s going to be so weird him not sitting next to me in the dressing room.”
Speculation is now rife about whether this could be the end for Ruby if the Andersons do uncover her criminal actions. Ruby could possibly be staring down the barrel of a prison stint if her secret gets out.
One fan on X wrote: “Ruby is playing a dangerous game”.
