Gary Barlow targeted by burglars as £6m mansion ‘raided while filming ITV show’

Take That star Gary Barlow’s £6m mansion was reportedly raided while he was away filming Saturday Night Takeaway with Ant & Dec.

It’s alleged the thieves targeted the singer’s home just a day after he performed on the penultimate episode of the popular TV show. The gang reportedly struck at night, forcing their way through the front gate of the property located in the south of England.

It wasn’t until the following day, April 8, that the 53-year-old star discovered the break-in when the police were alerted. It’s still unclear what, if anything, was stolen during the burglary and no arrests have been made so far.

Details about whether Barlow’s wife Dawn or their three children were present at the house during the incident remain unknown. In the aftermath of the incident, crime scene investigators were spotted taking photos of the mansion.

Neighbours reported seeing damage to the front gate following the burglary. One local resident told The Sun: “When I drove past I saw officers taking photos of the gates, which had been damaged. They were left half open. A few days later the gates had been fixed.”

Another neighbour, aged 76, said the police had knocked on his door to inquire about the burglary, believed to have occurred in the early hours. The music academic stated: “The police have been round to ask me about what happened, but I wasn’t aware of anything. I noticed the gates were flapping open. It’s a rather secluded place. It’s a warning to us all.”

The local went on to state that the police need to do more to protect residents. They also said they would pay more tax to ensure that they are safe.

Another local said that Gary was a nice neighbour and they feel “devastated this has happened to such a nice family.” Gary and Dawn share their three children Emily and Daisy born in 2002 and 2009 and son Daniel, born in 2000.

The hitmaker purchased his country pile for £2.3million in 2007. He agreed with conservationists to install a bat box in 2020 and in exchange he was allowed to build a garage for his cars.

Plans to build a second six-bed home in the garden were rejected in 2019. Gary was told by council planners that the proposed property would be out of keeping with the area.

Confirming the raid yesterday, a police spokeswoman said: “We received reports of a burglary in between 5.50pm on 7 April and 9am on 8 April. Officers are investigating the incident.” Daily Star has contacted representatives of Barlow for comment.
