Cult rockers Wunderhorse were spooked by the spirt of Nirvana while recording their new album in the legends’ old studio.
The four-piece recorded new album Midas in the same Minnesota facility where Nirvana made their classic final record, In Utero. And Kurt Cobain was literally looking over them.
Singer Jacob Slater told Daily Star: “Me and our guitarist Harry were playing around with an old guitar. I looked up, and on the mantlepiece there’s a picture of Nirvana with Courtney Love and their very young daughter, Frances, with Kurt holding the same guitar I was playing.

“That was a very strange moment.
“Nirvana and PJ Harvey made amazing music in that studio, so for the first couple of days, you feel: ‘God, can I live up to that?’ but you quickly make it your own.”
The studio’s remote location allowed Wunderhorse to channel their inner demons. Jacob explained: “It’s a serene, idyllic spot.
“I turned my phone off for a month and disappeared into this place where you can delve into the darker aspects of yourself.
“I can’t get anything done when there’s too many distractions. Some of the band got cabin fever, but I’d have been happy to stay there forever.
“I’d still be there now if the album wasn’t coming out and we’ve got shows to play.”
Wunderhorse’s October tour includes a huge Brixton Academy gig, having previously supported the likes of Fontaines DC, Sam Fender and Pixies.
Jacob enthused: “Having a career as long as Pixies wouldn’t be a bad outcome, they’re living legends. We’ve played with Fontaines the most, and they’re such great people who’ve done wonders for us.”
