Gillian Anderson has compiled a new book featuring women’s fantasies including one about Harry Styles.
The former One Direction member was the muse for one of the anonymous admissions sent to Sex Education star Gillian. Gillian has revealed one is about “very hot, sensual, passionate sex” with the musician.
Inspired by My Secret Garden, the project compiles letters from women revealing their deepest fantasies. The Nancy Friday’s 1973 classic inspired the actress who will be releasing the book today (September 5).

Talking about her new project, Gillian said: “We’ve got letters fantasising about having sex with strangers and talking about being turned on by the idea of voyeurism. What I was most interested in was the joy and the enjoyment that the women had clearly in writing, how much it opened them up to understanding themselves more, it seemed.
“Ultimately, this is not my book. This is the book of every woman who contributed.” And that includes each 174 of the ladies that submitted a letter, though Gillian also slotted in one of her own.
Ironically Gillian, who was voted the world’s sexiest woman in 1996, struggled to put her own sexual fantasy to paper. She said: “Suddenly describing the imagery that’s been in my head for a while and the action of doing that, added a level of intimacy that I wouldn’t have expected, and I wouldn’t have expected myself to be so shy around it.”
She added: “Sex and sexual fantasy are still very much taboo, even though we have shows like Sex Education and Euphoria and Fifty Shades of Grey. And then there’s “the multi-billion dollar porn industry,” which the star dubs as being “in our faces, on our screens, on our phones all the time”.
One of the contributions in Want writes: “I found it so difficult to understand what truly my own fantasies are. So much of what is played out in porn is geared towards men, and so many expectations set on us as women, that I have a very difficult time navigating what really turns me on versus how I feel I should perform.”
Gillian received 1,800 anonymous submissions from women across the globe and has collated the selected submissions into 13 chapters including ‘To Be Worshipped’, ‘Exploration’, ‘Power and Submission’ and ‘The Watchers and the Watched’.
