GMB’s Richard Madeley quips ‘I’m done’ just minutes into show as he asks ‘shall I leave’

GMB’s Richard Madeley was left wondering whether or not to “leave the show” just minutes into it airing.

The ITV show returned for another episode on Friday (May 27) And it was Charlotte Hawkins and Richard who were back at the helm to discuss the latest headlines from around the world.

The pair were quick to mention the news of an ice cream worker who has had complaints over their music. However, it didn’t take Richard long to drop several ice-cream-themed jokes and puns.

He said: “Shall we just get through all the ice cream jokes now? Shall we get rid of them. Otherwise, it might look a bit flaky. Or we might be having a meltdown.”

Richard and Charlotte were back to front the show

Charlotte Hawkins laughed along with her co-host as he quipped: “Thank you.” She then asked him: “How long did it take you to think of these?”

Richard replied: “Around two minutes!” He went on: “And finally, let’s be serious, it affects so many people. A lot of people, like hundred and thousands!” He added with a cheeky smile: “That’s it! I’m done.”

Charlotte had to listen to Richard’s jokes and puns

His co-stars started clapping as Charlotte quipped: “Well that’s put a smile on our face.” But Richard was not finished. The hosts checked in with weather presenter Laura Tobin to see what weather is in store for Brits this week.

But Richard soon dropped a weather-related pun. He said: “Give us the full forecast in a minute. We don’t want to steal your thunder.”

Richard’s jokes didn’t seem to go down well

Charlotte mused: “Do you think he will be like this all morning?” Richard said: “Shall I just leave?” as an awkward silence filled the studio. GMB star Sean Fletcher also chimed in and said: “You’ve peaked! There’s no way you can get any better than this!”

Charlotte proclaimed: “I just love the fact that Sean is heckling from the sidelines.” And Richard was quick to move on. He told his co-star: “Come on, let’s do the news. Let’s do these stories.”
