Gok Wan left baffled as fans mind-blown over his 10-year career away from TV

Gok Wan confessed he is astonished at fans’ responses to his career away from telly.

The TV host, 50, has been an audience favourite on our screens since the noughties and has no plans to stop now. But he has other strings to his bow and has another career on the side.

The talented star has been DJing for the past 10 years and has played in some of the world’s biggest and best locations, whether that be Glastonbury Festival or Ibiza’s Hi Club.

But some fans are still left gobsmacked when they find this out – which leaves Gok baffled after he has been “very public” about his musical skills.

Gok told us: “Do you know what, this absolutely amazes me actually, because you think that everyone knows everything about your life, as I’ve always been so transparent. I’ve opened up my life, my home, my relationship with my family, my friends…

“So, you think everyone knows everything about you. Then all of a sudden, I was playing at Glastonbury and people were suddenly going, ‘What? Since when?’

“I’ve been doing this for a decade now really publicly, my Instagram is full of me DJing or on a podium somewhere. I’ve been really vocal about it, and it’s like, how do fans still not know? It’s beyond me!”

Gok has also been announced as a brand ambassador at JD Williams and has joined them for a new midlife fashion campaign. Speaking about this, he added: “Midlife is 100% the moment you find the confidence to start feeling more confident in your life.

“I don’t believe women should feel forced to adopt certain behaviours or change their look based on their age. Every woman has the right to feel confident in her own skin and to express herself however she chooses. This morning’s event was all about giving women the tools to reclaim their sense of self, feel beautiful in their own skin, and find confidence through their fashion choices.”

Gok Wan was recently announced as the brand ambassador for fashion brand JD Williams. With his extensive fashion background and expertise, Gok will collaborate closely with the brand to empower midlife women and redefine midlife fashion, emphasising this stage of life as a time for exploration rather than settling. His first project with JD Williams, the official sponsor of the ITV and ITVX relationship show ‘My Mum, Your Dad,’ is the idents campaign, where he styled real midlife women. The show is due to return later this month. JD Williams is committed to designing clothes that accommodate the ever-changing silhouette of midlife women, offering products in sizes 8-32.
