Hedonistic DJ Brandon Block now has a new vice – and it’s not what you think

Brandon Block has ditched his wild party lifestyle for the good life. The star shot to fame in the 90s as one of the top DJs at hedonistic club nights in hotspots like Ibiza and London.

But these days he’s become hooked on gardening, started looking after his health and even likes to be tucked up in bed by 9pm.

He told the Daily Star Sunday: “I went out every week for 30 years. I was Djing, clubbing, whatever it was. I was in the habit of that.

“But going through Covid changed my behaviour. I’m in bed early now and I’m fine with that.

“After I do a gig these days, I’m ready to go home. I get back and go to bed. And in the week when I’m off work, I’m in bed by 9pm latest. It’s now very strange for me to be out late!”

Now he’s in his 50s, Brandon has developed a raft of new hobbies. And they’re a world away from what he used to do in his heyday.

He said: “I like sitting in and watching Netflix. And I’m gardening now. I’ve learned to enjoy nature. I like to watch the world grow. I’m not great at it, but it’s fun.

“I do DIY too. I’m not fantastic at that either by any means. But it makes me happy.”

As part of his new lifestyle, Brandon is also careful about his health. He added: “ I used to eat sugar every day. But then last year I went on a health retreat and lost 15kg. I’ve cut out refined sugars.

“I’ve changed my behaviour of eating. I don’t eat crisps and cakes and bread. I cycle and I swim in the sea, too. That’s my new habit.”

Brandon still loves being a DJ and has no plans to retire any time soon.

After decades on the road, he still loves it. He said: “I’m really happy being a DJ. I’m so glad I am still at it 40 years later. I was lucky enough to be part of the dance music revolution.

“It crossed every barrier and changed music forever.”

Brandon is in demand for gigs because he’s got so many fans around the world.

The star is regularly on the bill at Butlin’s holiday camps as part of the chain’s Adult Only Weekenders.

He added: “Whenever you play at Butlin’s, you know it’s going to fill up. Even in tough times, you get a good crowd. You’re guaranteed a good night.

“It’s a lovely thing to be part of. I’ve been playing at resorts for about 20 years.”

Balancing his chilled out lifestyle with his DJ career is working wonders for Brandon and he’s happier than ever.

He said: “I’m happy at the moment. I’m eternally grateful for the career I’ve had. Whatever I wanted to do, I’ve achieved it. I’m not aspiring to be anything more.”
