Idea of You star Nicholas Galitzine ‘all for the sex scene’ after stars slam raunchy moments

Nicholas Galitzine has insisted he’s “all for the sex scene”, at a time when many stars complain that they are uncomfortable.

The Brit actor got steamy in scenes in Mary & George, his TV miniseries about the affair between James VI and I and George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham. He also gets up close and personal with Hollywood star Anne Hathaway in new movie The Idea Of You, which follows the romance between a single mum in her 40s and a younger boy band star.

Opening up to GQ Hype, the actor revealed he isn’t averse to slipping between the sheets on screen. He explained it can be helpful for the role.

“I think you can gain a lot of insight into [characters] at their most primal, their most emotionally and physically vulnerable,” he said. “So, yeah. I’m all for the sex scene.”

Asked about recent suggestions that Gen Z want less sex on screen, he mused: “I wonder if it’s the pornification of our generation. Or maybe the fact that due to the digital age, something so human as having sex feels like an affront.”

Nicholas, 29, shot a slew of sizzling scenes with different partners for historical drama Mary & George, in which he played George Villiers. He previously told Entertainment Weekly that there was one day where he filmed a whopping four sex scenes in one day.

But he said that it was a good way for him to get into character as Villiers and really gave him a feel for his “sense of power”. “We had such a wonderful intimacy coordinator, and for the day players who came in for these singular scenes, I hope I made them feel comfortable,” he said. “But I’m so proud of all that work that we did together.”

In his chat with GQ Hype, he quipped that that after shooting the raunchy drama, watching intimate scenes in other shows was a breeze. Discussing last year’s hit film Saltburn, which had its share of jaw-dropping moments, he said: “A lot of people were really squeamish with the sex scenes in it. You know, clearly Mary & George f***** me up, because I thought they were very normal.”

Several stars have indicated that they could do without sex scenes, with You star Penn Badgley revealing last year that he’d asked for less in his series. “I asked Sera Gamble, the creator, ‘Can I just do no more intimacy scenes?'” he told the Podcrushed podcast.

Megan Fox has also revealed she has concerns, saying a few years back that it’s because she’s a mum to three children. “There are some good projects I’ve read that are with talented people, talented directors, but the things the women are required to do in the movie are things I can’t have my sons ever know or see,” she was quoted as telling The Sun on Sunday.
