I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star Barry McGuigan’s son Shane took to Instagram with a concerning snap posted from his hospital bed and a canula in his arm
I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star Barry McGuigan’s son, Shane, has been rushed to hospital.
The 36-year-old boxing trainer, who previously dated his father’s ITV jungle campmate Maura Higgins, took to Instagram to share an update on his health. Ex-boxer Barry, 63, is dad to Shane with his wife Sandra.
Shane took to Instagram on Saturday (December 7) with a photo from his hospital bed, looking downcast and hooked up to a drip with a canula in his arm. His caption read: “It’s 1 thing after another atm [at the moment]” but he didn’t disclose the nature of his health issue.

Barry and Maura were both evicted from the jungle in a surprise double elimination on Thursday night (December 5). Fans were shocked by the result, suggesting that the inability for fans in the Republic of Ireland to vote may have affected the outcome.

Shane is currently engaged to singer-songwriter Taylor West, with whom he shares two sons, Finley George and Caelan James. This news follows Shane’s recent appearance on Good Morning Britain, where he discussed his ex, Maura, reports the Express.
Speaking about their friendship, he said: “Maura as well she’s an Irish girl – she’s from a small town in Ireland – so they’re both from the sticks. They would have been growing up as kids in a small town so there would be similarities there.”
Maura and Shane first crossed paths when she was working as a ring girl while he was commentating on fights for a radio station. The pair first met back in 2018 when Maura worked as a ring girl for the highly-anticipated rematch between David Haye and Tony Bellew, with Shane providing commentary for the fight.
They enjoyed a brief romance but eventually decided to go their separate ways, remaining on friendly terms. According to a source, the long distance between Maura’s home in Ireland and Shane’s base in London at the time put a strain on the relationship.
The insider revealed: “Maura has brains and beauty and she quickly caught Shane’s eye. They got chatting and had instant chemistry so of course he asked her out. At the time Maura lived in Ireland, and Shane was running his boxing gym in London, and she was travelling a lot for work so it wasn’t easy to pull off. There were no hard feelings when it ended.”
