ITV Emmerdale’s Barton brothers now – Strictly stint, fitness empire and Brassic role

Emmerdale has witnessed a plethora of family arrivals in the village, with some still thriving while others have moved on to pastures new.

One such family was the Barton clan, featuring dad James (Bill Ward), mum Emma (Gillian Kearney) and their sons – Ross (Michael Parr), Pete (Anthony Quinlan) and Finn (Joe Gill). However, fans will remember that the trio gained an additional brother when it was unveiled that Adam Barton’s (Adam Thomas), whose mother is Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb), biological father was actually James, not John (James Thornton) as he had been led to believe.

The Barton brothers, along with parents James and Emma, were embroiled in some of the ITV soap’s most riveting plots, including the Hotten Bypass crash, a chilling acid attack and a murder cover-up. Fans will remember that James met his end in 2016 after a deranged Emma held him captive due to her jealousy over Moira.

James tried to flee from her wicked grasp but Emma found him and pushed him off a bridge, resulting in a car pile-up involving several villagers. James later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. However, Emma met her end in 2017 after accidentally causing the death of her son, Finn. She was pushed off the Hotten Viaduct by Moira, a fact that was revealed later in an explosive bombshell, reports the Mirror.

In an attempt to protect his mother, who had recently given birth to Isaac Dingle, Adam confessed to Emma’s murder. But instead of serving time in prison, Adam chose to flee the village and hasn’t been seen since. After such upheaval, only Ross and Pete remained in the village, grappling with the loss of their family. More tragedy struck when Ross was the victim of a horrific acid attack due to mistaken identity.

Eventually, he left the village in 2018 with Rebecca White and her son Sebastian White to start a new life in Liverpool. Ross, who fathered Moses with Charity Dingle in 2015, is often mentioned but never seen. This left Pete, who decided to leave the village in 2020 to join Ross in Liverpool, as he continued to mourn his family.

So, where are the Barton brothers now? From joining the Strictly Come Dancing 2023 line-up to landing a role in Brassic, here’s a look…
