During Thursday’s (January 4) visit to the ITV studios, the brunette beauty and her 49-year-old co-star welcomed viewers back to the news program. The pair discussed some of the biggest news hitting the headlines including on the beloved morning show.

It was at this point that the mum-of-three confessed that she was celebrating her sixth year being alcohol-free as she revealed some of the major health benefits she has experienced. As they welcomed Lorraine Kelly onto the show, she confessed: “Since I properly gave up [alcohol], it is coming up to six years.

“One of the motivators for me is it has huge benefits for your skin. And I know you have a dermatologist, a skin specialist talking to you about that Lorraine so I’m going to come and join you.”

It didn’t take long before the news program fell into chaos as Andi Peters strutted on set with a selection of cocktails to hail in the new year. Handing out Pina Coladas amongst the cast and crew, Ben couldn’t help but take a sip before he recoiled in shock.

Andi asked: “Ben you’re pulling a really funny face, why are you doing that?” before Ben mumbled: “I feel like mine might have been [tampered with]”. It was at this point that the competition host cheekily admitted: “We added a little extra to yours to make it extra tasty.”

Susanna tentatively asked: “What have you added?” as Andi whispered to the cameras: “Vodka. That’ll wake him up won’t it?” It was at this point that Susanna fumed: “He’s doing dry January!” as Ben chuckled: “I was!”

Andi couldn’t help but burst into laughter as he added: “That cost me £21 to buy that Vodka” as the dad-of-two joked: “Richard [Arnold’s] got a bottle in his room you could have just swiped a bit of his.”

After he introduced the competition, the TV hunk couldn’t help but poke fun at the awkward blunder, adding: “Hopefully your dry January will be a bit longer than Ben’s which right now is only at four days because I spoiled it.

“Will you put it down!” he demanded as Ben jokingly picked up the cocktail again before adding: “I’m making the most of it!” Towards the end of the show, Susanna reassured him that he hadn’t truly broken his New Year’s resolution because his drink had been unintentionally spiked.

She insisted: “It wasn’t your fault, the Dry January sheriff has spoken and it was only an accident.” Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays from 6am on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
