Following the news, it soon became a mad dash to get her to hospital so she could be seen so that it did affect her condition too badly.

Price spent six hours in the emergency department with her mum, who currently is suffering with a terminal lung disease, named idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Amt received the heart-breaking diagnosis in 2017, and her condition has slowly deteriorated since then.

After six hours of waiting in A&E, Amy was given the ultrasound she needed and was thankfully given the all-clear to go home. Speaking on their podcast, The Katie Price Show, which was released on Thursday (February 29), the showbiz legend spilled the beans on the experience.

Opening up to sister Sophie, she said: “I had to take mum to A&E. The hospital were really good actually – we went to Medway Hospital.”

Sophie added: “You took mum up to A&E because she had a burst cyst, I think it was, buy she is all fine.” Katie added: “She had an ultra-sound the other week and they burst it basically by accident – so we spent about six hours at A&E, just having a chat.”

When Amy was diagnosed with the condition, she was given a life expectancy of around five years. Since then, she has been able to far outlive the prognosis from medics, thanks to a lung transplant that has helped her live a normal life.

Speaking to Daily Star in a recent health update in November last year, she admitted that while she had “quite a few setbacks”, she was going “in the right direction”. She also said that she has been pushing herself to become stronger following the operation.

“The trouble is when you have a lung transplant it’s so easy to sit because you still get a bit breathless but if I don’t exercise, I won’t move forward,” Amy admitted. “I had a single lung transplant but it would cease up so I’ve got to exercise to get it working.”

Following on from her transplant, Amy’s quality of life went up and she has increased her life expectancy by years. In total, there are just between 150 and 200 lung transplants per year in the country, which includes those suffering with pulmonary fibrosis, as well as other lung diseases.
