Dressing up like Compo and Nora Batty from Last of the Summer Wine is a bizarre turn-on for thousands of kinky Brits.
The seventies TV sitcom has been named as one of the top telly shows for role play inspiration between the sheets. Thousands have slipped into Nora Batty’s wrinkled stockings or scruffy grump Compo’s woolly hat and moth-eaten jacket for some action.
Compo – played by Bill Owen – was rarely seen without the hat in the hit BBC show which ran for 37 years from 1973 until it ended in 2010. Whilst Nora – played by actress Kathy Staff, was famous for wearing thick rumpled tights much to the delight of Compo.

Other bizarre TV character turn-ons revealed in the survey by sex toy brand Lelo were Gavin and Stacey, EastEnders and Dr Who. Their findings revealed a whopping 65% of Brits are ready to spice things up in the bedroom with role-play.

Sci-fi scenarios were also a top turn on for many, with shows such as Star Wars, Star Trek and Dr Who also being named.
A spokesperson said: “Inspiration can come from all quarters, though, with many respondents preferring to take on characters from shows including James Bond, EastEnders, Last of the Summer Wine and Gavin and Stacey.”
Psychotherapist Kate Moyle, LELO’s in-house relationship and sex expert, has given her tips for those trying out role-play for the first time.

She said: “If it’s the first time you have tried role playing together then start small – nobody is expecting you to be an award-winning actor or actress on your first attempt.
“You may find it easier to go to a new environment, a new bar, pub or restaurant that you don’t usually visit. However, if home is the only option then try and shift the mood by using sensory cues like music or lighting.
“And remember it’s meant to be fun – if you’re taking it so seriously to the point that you’re not enjoying it then the balance isn’t working.”
