Scott Mills has shared the heartfelt messages between him and Liam Payne’s dad.

The BBC Radio 2 host has revealed the touching text exchanges he’s had with Liam’s grieving dad Geoff after the singer’s tragic death. One Direction star Liam died aged 31 last week after falling from a hotel balcony at the CasaSur Palermo hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Geoff, who has flown out to Argentina with wife Karen to pay tribute to his son, reached out to Scott and thanked him and his listeners for the emotional tribute to the singer last week. He said: “He won’t mind me saying this, I was texting Geoff, Liam’s dad the other day when he was in Argentina. And he said he has posted our tribute we did to Liam last week to the family WhatsApp group.

“And he thought it was wonderful, especially all of the messages and comments you put underneath the video on the Radio 2 Instagram. And he just wanted me to thank you all for all the beautiful heartfelt messages that you have put on there. He’s read all of them.”

Praising Liam’s family, Scott added: “And for him to reach out and say thankyou like that during such a difficult time where him and all of Liam’s close ones will be hurting so much just shows you what I’ve known all along. What a kind family they are.”

He concluded by sending his love to Geoff and all of Liam’s loved ones, saying: “So, sending you all our love Geoff to you and the rest of the family. And to all his friends. We’re all still thinking of you.”

Liam’s body is currently still in Argentina as the investigations into his death are still underway. It’s believed he will remain in Argentina for between 10 and 15 days while toxicology tests take place, after which the singer’s remains will be handed over to his family members and repatriated to England.

It’s reported dad Geoff is refusing to leave his son’s side as the family hope to fly his body home this week. A source said: “Liam’s loved ones just want him home, back where he belongs among his family. As they await the pathologist to finish their tests, behind the scenes, they have been tackling the logistics about how best to get his body back to the UK.

“There are no direct commercial flights between Buenos Aires and London, but naturally, they want the flight to have the least stops and interruptions possible. But Geoff is determined to accompany his son home.”
