Liam Payne’s unreleased song has been revealed.
The 31-year-old One Direction singer sadly died after he fell from a third floor balcony while on holiday in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 16 October. Over on TikTok, songwriter Adam Midgley shared an unreleased song that Liam had been working on.
One heart-breaking lyric says: “If I’m lost in the dark now, will you hear me when I call out? Does it ever get easier?” According to the songwriter, Midgley’s clip was recorded while the pair stayed together and worked on some music.

Payne can also be heard singing: “I’m a little less high than I used to be. Still a little uncertain of everything. I keep hearing I’m right where I’m supposed to be, so tryna find out what that’s supposed to mean.”
“And I’m all in my head now, every night when I lay down. Does it ever get easier? […] Oh, look what you’ve done, what have you done? Telling myself, look what you’ve done, was it ever enough?”
According to reports Adam is signed to Universal Music – the same company that Liam was signed with before the label dropped him prior to his untimely death – and helped co-write iconic tunes such as Dua Lipa’s Hotter Than Hell.
MIdgley went on to write an extensive caption on the TikTok explaining the meaning behind the song and paid tribute to the former X Factor contestant. He said that the pair met in 2019 and Liam was “in a difficult place in his life after the end of One Direction and the break up of his relationship”.
“Liam wasn’t used to writing his own songs but we spoke for hours about what he’d been through in his life and I wanted to help him try and express things he was bottling up. He was incredibly kind and welcoming to me…we got on so well [that] I ended up going to stay with him for a while in this beautiful home he owned near Malibu.”
Adam said that Payne “had such crazy stories and such an unbelievable life,” telling the songwriter tales that “blew his mind”.
