Liam Payne’s Netflix show ‘not axed yet’ in update after singer’s tragic death

A Netflix show featuring Liam Payne has reportedly been placed ‘on hold’ after the singer’s death.

The beloved singer and One Direction star tragically died at the age of just 31 on October 16 when he fell three stories from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It’s been reported drugs such as cocaine were found in his system when he died, but investigations are still ongoing.

In the weeks prior to his passing, Liam was working on a new reality show called Building The Band – aiming to find “the next great pop group”. He was a mentor on the show alongside Nicole Scherzinger and Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland.

The show, hosted by Backstreet Boys singer AJ McLean, was going to feature 50 singers competing for a chance to form a group. It’s said filming for the Netflix programme wrapped in the summer and that it has currently been put on hold following Liam’s death.

However, it’s now claimed the series could still air after his death and has “definitely not been shelved”. According to The Sun, Netflix will need to meet with Payn’es family to discuss a potential release of the show.

A source told the outlet: “It is too soon to make a decision, but the show has definitely not been shelved. Filming was completed at the end of summer.

“Netflix will sit down with Liam’s family when the time is right to speak about the series and when it could be released. Everyone involved is devastated and their heart goes out to his family.

“There is no rush or pressure to release the series. It would simply be a beautiful tribute to Liam and capture him at his best in the months before his death.”

In August, Kelly Rowland spoke about working with Payne, telling People: “Liam is absolutely hilarious. I didn’t know how funny he was, so I’m getting to know him, and he is so cool.”

Nicole Scherzinger shared snaps of her and Kelly with Payne after his death. She took to Instagram to pay a heartfelt tribute to the One Direction star.

She wrote: “I will forever cherish and treasure the time we shared together, from fifteen years ago when One Direction was born, right up until just a few weeks ago.

“It was such a blessing to get to work with you recently. We shared the same love and passion for music and I will forever remember the meaningful and joyful conversations we had.”

“It’s been so hard to process that you’re no longer here, but I am grateful to have known your kind heart, sweet soul and character. You brought so much joy, light, and laughter to the lives of those that truly knew you. I will “miss you” my friend and carry you in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.”
