Lily Allen fans fume as she rehomes dog after it ‘ruins her life’ and eats her passport

Lily Allen has explained why she said goodbye to her dog after it caused chaos at her family home.

The ‘Smile’ hitmaker was left in a pickle after her furry friend gobbled up her passport and those of her kids Ethel, 12, and Marnie, 11. The passport pandemonium meant her daughters, who are based in New York with Lily and her hubby, were stuck stateside and couldn’t pop over to London to see their dad for a hefty four to five months.

Chatting on her Miss Me? podcast with her bestie Miquita Oliver, Lily dished the dirt: “We actually did adopt a dog already, but then it ate my passport and so I took her back to the home.”

“She ate all three of our passports and they had our visas in. And I cannot tell you how much money it cost me to get everything replaced, because it was Covid so it was just an absolute logistical nightmare.”

“And because the father of my children lives in England, I couldn’t take them back to see their dad for like four months, five months, because this f***ing dog had eaten the passports.”

“And I just couldn’t look at her. I was like ‘You’ve ruined my life’.” The songstress also touched on why she’s kept her ex-husband’s surname, despite divorcing Cooper four years ago.

She explained: “I still have my ex-husband’s name because I’ve got two children with the man, and it’s hard to travel with children if you haven’t got the same surname.”

Meanwhile, just last month Lily Allen got real about feeling ‘bereft’ after being apart from her daughters for two months. The singer shared that she had a proper sob fest for “90 minutes” recently, after sending her girls off to summer camp.

On her and Miquita Oliver’s Miss Me?podcast back in July, Lily spilled the beans about her daughters heading back to the States for camp, which meant zero phone chats for an entire month.

She dished out the deets: “We dropped the kids off and it was great, it was so sweet, I’m so glad that we got them there on time.”

But then, Lily got hit by a wave of emotions. Miquita, gobsmacked by her mate’s tearful moment, told the listeners that this wasn’t typical Lily behaviour and quickly offered her comfort.

Lily reckoned her emotional rollercoaster was down to a cocktail of tough goodbyes, bonkers travel mayhem, and the panic that she might not get her little ones to the US in time, leaving her totally “discombobulated”.

She reminisced: “I was like [to David], ‘I was so mean to them, I was so snappy, I didn’t cuddle them for long enough’. They don’t have phones, I can’t speak to them for a month, so they are gone.”

“The only way we can keep in touch is through letters, so no calls for us,” she added. Even as Miquita tried to pep-talk her into seeing the bright side, Lily conceded, saying: “It will be good, and it was transformative for them last year, so I know they’ll have such a good time, I know they’ll enjoy it.”
