Jake Cornish claimed ex-girlfriend Liberty Poole was “bitter” when they reunited in the villa.
Jake signed up for Love Island: All Stars, but was surprised when he came face to face with his former flame. The 26-year-old and Liberty, 24, met on series seven in 2021, however, broke up and walked out of the villa just days before the final.
Having not seen each other in two years, the exes had an awkward reunion when they entered the villa in South Africa. Discussing their first interaction, Jake told The Sun: “I felt like it was a bit sour. Like, oh here he is. Let’s go at him again.”

The former engineer added: “So when it was them faces, and the comments of like ‘he gives me the ick’, I took on the chin, I’m not going to cry about it. Whereas obviously the conversation we had, she said, ‘I feel like you’re ignoring me’ – it was just the way she come into the conversation, was just a bit bitter.”
On the first day, Jake and Liberty were chosen to couple up by the public. Jake, who hails from Weston-super-Mare, admitted he saw it coming, saying: “I knew straight away they were gonna put me and Lib together. I know the British public way too well!”
Jake lasted just three days in the villa before he decided to quit, claiming it was because he didn’t find a connection. After his exit, Love Island alum Anna Vakili shared her thoughts on why he really left the show.
Speaking on her podcast Sisters In The City, alongside her sister Mandi, the 33-year-old said: “I feel so bad for him. The first time he got so much s***. The amount of trolling…he was getting death threats after the whole Liberty thing.”
Anna, who appeared on series five of Love Island in 2019, continued: “And now he’s gone back on it and I could feel it off the screen that he felt uncomfortable and lonely. You know what it is when you can’t be yourself? You’re so down and feeling so uncomfortable that you can’t be yourself or let your own personality come out.”
Mandi chipped in: “He probably wanted to say something about the little jokes or comments that are being made but he can’t, because he’s so scared of being cancelled or getting threats again.” Anna replied: “What he had was so bad last time that it probably had an affect on him. I just hope he’s okay.”
