Moment lead singer of Jane’s Addiction punches guitarist mid-song in onstage explosion

The lead singer of Jane’s Addiction has slugged the band’s guitarist in explosive scenes in the middle of a song during a gig last night – forcing the band to wrap up early.

The explosive scenes went down as the iconic rock band performed a show in Boston in the United States on Friday night (September 13) during which Perry Farrell threw a punch at guitar player Dave Navarro.

Eagle-eyed concertgoers said tensions appeared to be brewing throughout the course of the gig. Some said Farrell began shouting at Navarro during ‘Mountain Song’ and had looked angered over several songs.

Reports say the 57-year-old was shouting and swearing into the mic before stomping over to the guitarist and slugging him. The brawl stopped the show only nine songs in.

They say the singer started barking into the mic before marching over to a confused-looking Navarro – sparking a brawl and stopping the show mid-song.

The blindsided band member, who has also been the guitarist for Red Hot Chili Peppers, has only recently rejoined the band. He returned in May with the classic Jane’s Addiction line-up performing their first show together in fourteen years on May 23.

In the aftermath of the punch, crew members rushed on stage and grabbed Farrell in an attempt to pull him away. He was restrained and dragged off the stage with bassist Eric Avery getting involved too.

Moments later, Navarro, Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins reconvened onstage and hugged one another, waving to the crowd and making peace signs. Loyal fans in the crowd went wild as they clapped and cheered.

Reacting to the scenes, fans took to X to fear that might be the final straw for the band, first formed in 1985. “For sure that this was the last day of J Addiction,” wrote one.

Another said “looks like the band won’t be getting back together” and called the bust-up “wild”. A third chimed in: “we may have just seen the last Jane’s Addiction show ever”.

More tour dates are scheduled throughout September. It’s unclear if the tour will continue.
