Netflix fans refuse to finish ‘haunting’ series as they all break down ‘in tears’

Netflix fans are in a meltdown over one “tragic” show that they “will never forget”.

In the Netflix Bangers group on Facebook, streamers gathered to discuss When They See Us after someone posted: “Sometimes a [show] is so powerful…you can only watch it once [broken heart emoji]…this series had me teary eyed at the end, great series overall loved it 10/10 [black heart emoji].”

Fans of the show gathered in the comment section to discuss the series and one person said: “I couldn’t get through it, but I said I would go back and watch it completely one day.” Another said the show was “heartbreaking” while another added: “Can’t forget till today though, it’s been over three years since I watched it [fire emojis].”

Someone else typed: “It will forever and I mean forever haunt me. Harrowing is not even near [to] the way it makes you feel.” A second person chimed in: “I literally can’t ever watch this again! Heartbreaking and gut wrenching!”

More people said that When They See Us is “very good,” “quite underrated,” “such a tragic story” and a “very powerful series”. One Netflix fan even exclaimed that they “cried like a baby watching” while another said they had “PTSD for a week” afterwards.

When They See Us is a crime drama miniseries which was released back in May 2019. It follows the events of the Central Park jogger case from 1989, during which five Black and Latino males were falsely accused and prosecuted for raping and assaulting a white woman in New York City.

The group filed a suit against the city in 2003 for wrongful conviction and were later awarded a settlement back in 2014.

Starring Jharrel Jerome, Asante Blackk, Caleel Harris, Jovan Adepo, Michael K. Williams, Logan Marshall-Green and Joshua Jackson among others, the series was hugely praised and received 71 nominations at the Primetime Emmy Awards.

Jerom was awarded Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie while the show also won the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Limited Series.
