New horror comedy with bloodthirsty squirrels and Fallout star in the works

A new horror comedy film that features killer squirrels has been announced.

The movie, titled The Scurry is set to bring a darker tone to the usually furry creatures, as they slowly take over a park. A leading actor has already been revealed, who will need to use her skills as a park attendant to battle the animals.

The film is set to follow two pest controllers who go to a country park café after reports of a vermin problem happening on a regular basis. Little do they know that a swathe of feral squirrels hit the park at night, causing chaos and wreaking havoc for staff and visitors alike.

Shooting is currently taking place at Dragon Studios in South Wales, while outside shots are being filmed across the Welsh Valleys. Production is being spearheaded by True Brit Entertainment, who will be held responsible for pushing the film into cinemas.

Some of the other cast members already confirmed to be taking part include Rhys Ifans, who has starred in the likes of Notting Hill and The Amazing Spiderman. As well as this, Antonia Thomas, who has been in classic British dark comedy Misfits and The Good Doctor, has also signed up for the project.

Olivia Cooke and Mia McKenna-Bruce were names that were also tied to the film as filming got underway. However, both actresses were forced to drop out from the movie due to varying scheduling conflicts.

James Scott, a producer for Circus Studios, who is co-producing the film said they were thrilled to have Ella Purnell join the shoot. He added that to have her name on the project will help boost the legitimacy and need for viewers to get out into the cinemas to watch the upcoming film.

“Fallout is the biggest show on the planet right now, so to have the lead actress join our squirrel movie is incredibly exciting for the production team and our worldwide distribution partners,” Scott beamed. CEO of True Brit, Zygi Kamasa, also welcomed Ella onto the set with open arms.

This is not the first film for Welsh director Craig Roberts, who is behind the wheel of the bizarre project. He also has produced other films Just Jim and The Phantom of the Open, both of which were positively received.
