Noughties pop icon says ‘bum cheeks aren’t the same’ as she gives ‘wonky’ health update

All Saints star Melanie Blatt has opened up about her health condition which made her “wonky”.

In 1986, the singer, now 49, was diagnosed with scoliosis. At the time, her parents were not satisfied with the treatment in the UK for the condition and decided to move to France instead.

Here, Melanie underwent extensive surgery which had “high risks”, as a specialist inserted three metal rods in her back. Though Melanie revealed she is so thankful to her parents for making that decision as she may not have been able to continue her career without it.

Talking about how it affects her nowadays, Melanie exclusively said: “I’m a very wonky person. I have just come back from visiting my daughter, and I was staying at her husband’s aunt’s house.

“Unfortunately, the bathroom was covered in huge mirrors. I’ve never spent so much time looking at my back and my bum and the back of me, and it wasn’t nice.

“So, I’d never noticed how wonky I actually am. Like one shoulder was up, one hip up, like even, like my bum cheeks, they’re not the same, I’m very wonky everywhere.”

Melanie continued: “I’ve learned when you live with something like that, usually it just becomes the norm. So you don’t really see it as anything extra. I was really lucky, my mum found an amazing doctor, and it didn’t, it didn’t hinder me in any way.”

The singer also looks just as incredible as she did back in the girl group’s heyday and shared her secrets with us. Though, some may be a little controversial…

As, she promoted Whatnot’s new Y2K campaign, which celebrates noughties trends coming back to the surface. She lifted the lid on what helped her look so youthful.

Melanie added: “I mean, my friend said it best the other day I got my makeup done professionally, because I don’t really do anything these days.

“And I walked in, he said, ‘Oh, my God, you look amazing!’ And he said, ‘Ah, I see what you’re doing. You never look amazing. So, when you do wear makeup, you look amazing’.

“So that is the trick. Just look bad most of the time, so that when you do even put one lick of mascara on, people think you look amazing. That’s it!

“But honestly, apart from a little bit of Botox, I’m terrible. Like, I still go on sunbeds. I’m still smoking, like, everything that you’re not supposed to do, I’m doing still.”

Whatnot is the largest livestream shopping platform in Europe and North America and according to its new research, Y2K nostalgia is taking over Britain, with almost half (45 percent) of Brits agreeing there has been a serious comeback in Y2K fashion and almost two-thirds (65 percent) of women admit they like to see old trends come back into fashion.
