Oasis tease new tour dates with cryptic announcement post after Ticketmaster fury

Oasis have excited fans by teasing an upcoming announcement ahead of their tour next year.

The band took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday (September 28) to reveal that they will be sharing some news on Monday. It comes following speculation that Liam and Noel Gallagher’s reunited band will be embarking on a world tour – after they announced two extra dates at London’s Wembley Stadium.

The post included photos of billboards up in locations including Times Square in New York for the upcoming tour. The tweet read: “MONDAY, 8AM ET #OasisLive25.”

Fans went wild over the news and were convinced it meant they would be adding US dates and other to the tour. One wrote: “Getting super excited for you to announce your US shows.” Another penned: “US dates announcement.”

A third reacted to the tweet: “Yasssssss finally!” whilst another fan wrote: “Here we go.”

It was reported earlier this week that sources told NME that the tour is set to visit Toronto in Canada, as well as Chicago, East Rutherford, Boston and Los Angeles in the US. The tour will reportedly also visit Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Brazil, Chile and Argentina.

Last month, once-warring brothers Liam, 51, and Noel, 57, revealed they had gotten Oasis back together and would be touring the UK and Ireland next year. The siblings haven’t performed together since 2009.

Tickets went on sale shortly afterwards and fans scrambled onto sites like Ticketmaster to try and get tickets for the shows, but it was heartbreak for many as it sold out within minutes. Some were left waiting in queues for up to 11 hours and told tens of thousands of people were in front of them.

Some claimed Ticketmaster had crashed during the surge for tickets. A spokesperson for Ticketmaster was forced to deny that their site had crashed amid the chaos.

She told fans to “hold their place in line”. They said: “The queue is moving along as fans buy tickets. As anticipated, millions of fans are accessing our site so have been placed in a queue.

“Fans are advised to hold their place in line, make sure they’re only using one tab, clear cookies, and ensure they aren’t using any VPN software on their device.”

But it was the “dynamic pricing” that angered fans the most. Tickets had gone from costing just under £150 to a whopping £355, over double what was initially asked for.

The reasoning for this was that the tickets were “in demand” and were therefore allowed to be sold at a higher price. Fans were absolutely livid at Ticketmaster and the band for the jump in prices for the tickets, with one fan writing: “It’s disgraceful to see standing tickets priced at £355.20 – pure exploitation.”

A second user added: “That feeling when you wait in a queue for four hours only to be told the price of the ticket has risen from £148 to… £355? Because they’re ‘in demand’. How is this not illegal?”

Oasis claimed the band weren’t responsible for the dynamic pricing. In a statement they wrote: “As for the well reported complaints many buyers had over the operation of Ticketmaster’s dynamic ticketing: it needs to be made clear that Oasis leave decisions on ticketing and pricing entirely to their promoters and management, and at no time had any awareness that dynamic pricing was going to be used.”
