‘Psychotic’ show with ‘disturbing plot twist’ makes horror fans cry ‘best series ever’

Horror fans have agreed that one twisted series is their “all time favourite”.

Someone in the Netflix Bangers Facebook group asked for “thoughts on Bates Motel” and their fellow members did not disappoint. One person branded it “the best series” while another said: “Stellar. Dark, disturbing, great storyline […] thanks for posting this, it demands a rewatch [smiling emoji].”

“It was really good, huge plot twist at the end and Rihanna makes a guest appearance in one episode in the last season,” wrote another fan of the show. More people chimed in with “very good,” “brilliant,” “great series,” “so good” and “awesome”.

“My all time hands down favourite! I’m sooo mad they took it off Netflix,” read one comment, while a second said: “Brilliant, watch[ed] it three times,” and a third added: “OMG I enjoyed watching this so much!”

Countless commenters confessed that they’d “watched multiple times” as more horror fans called Bates Motel “pretty good” and “one of the best series they’ve ever watched”. Bates Motel is a horror series that was first released back in 2013 and stars Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga, Max Thierot, Olivia Cooke, Nestor Carbonell and Kenny Johnson.

Fans were amazed at the twisted plot

UK readers that are interested in watching the spooky show can stream the series on Channel 4. The platform’s description reads: “Dark, suspenseful drama that delves into the teenage life of a serial-killer-to-be Norman Bates and his twisted relationship with his mother.”

The American psychological horror drama is based on characters from the iconic novel Psycho, which was written by Robert Bloch and later turned into a film in 1960. Bates Motel is a “contemporary prequel” to the events in Psycho and follows Norman and his mother Norma in a modern day setting.

A&E skipped a pilot episode and instead opted for 10 episodes in the first season, which eventually resulted in the longest-running original scripted drama series in the channel’s history. Vera was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and won a Saturn Award for Best Actress on Television.
