Robin Windsor’s friends launched three-day search for Strictly star before he was found dead

The friends of Robin Windsor were reportedly searching for him for three days before his death.

On Tuesday (February 20), it was announced that the Strictly Come Dancing star had passed away aged 44. The dancer vanished last week before he was found dead in a London hotel room.

The Mirror reported that in the lead up to Robin’s tragic passing, one of his close pals was placing calls trying to find out where he was. Robin’s friend and Strictly co-star Vincent Simone admitted he often went missing and branded it an “ongoing problem”.

“He would detach himself from people for two or three days,” Vincent told the publication. “Then he would come back to the world, to reality. But this time, he didn’t come back.”

Robin was open about his battle with depression and it has now emerged that he suffered an incident over New Year’s Eve. “Big shout out and love to everyone who’s reached out and checked in the last week,” the late star wrote to his followers on January 4.

“Sorry I have not replied… it’s been a bit of a trying time and things are looking up. Robin.” A friend confirmed this to Daily Mail, telling the publication that Robin was “traumatised” from what happened.

His friend said: “He kept saying that something had happened over New Year but he wouldn’t say what it was. He sounded absolutely traumatised – whatever had happened must have been truly awful.”

Confirming Robin’s passing, a statement from his family said: “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of our beautiful Robin. Robin’s dancing started from a very young age and never stopped. He lit up any room he walked into, he was a nurturing soul always full of fun.

The tribute continued: “He brought so much happiness to anyone who saw him dance. Strictly Cone Dancing, Burn the floor and many other dance shows along with all the school children around the country who he gave his time.

“Robin was a strong advocate for mental health and worked closely with the ‘Sane Charity’ The dance world has lost some of its sparkle today. We ask for the family’s privacy at this very difficult time.”

Robin was a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing from 2010 until 2013. During his time on the BBC show, he was partnered with Patsy Kensit, Anita Dobson, Lisa Riley and Deborah Meaden.
