Saturday Night Takeaway chaos as fans forced to mute TVs after Ant and Dec’s warning

Saturday Night Takeaway viewers were forced to hit the mute button during the latest episode.

Hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly had to warn viewers on Saturday night (March 30) about a regular segment on their hit ITV show. And for reasons you may not expect.

The Geordie duo’s Ring My Bell game sees doorbells being rung constantly, with lucky audience members potentially bagging £500 if theirs shows up on screen. As locations flash up on screen, the person who lives there shouts out if it’s their home.

Their neighbours are then required to dash to the doorbell in question with a random household item chosen by Ant and Dec – in Saturday’s case – a clothes horse. Whoever gets to the doorbell first wins £500 for themselves and another £500 for the house owner.

Saturday Night Takeaway fans said their dogs were going wild during the episode on Saturday (March 30)

With three rounds of the game in an episode, viewers are subjected to at least six doorbells ringing. And dog owners watching along have revealed that all hell breaks loose because of the feature as it drives their pups barking mad, reports the Mirror.

One fan said they have to turn their sound off during the game to keep things calm at home. Writing on X (formerly Twitter), they asked: “Does anyone else’s dog go off at ding dong that’s my doorbell.”

Another viewer replied: “Yep my little Frenchie goes mad.” And a third added: “I cannot express enough how every time they do Ring My Bell I need to mute the tv before they actually ring the bell as my dogs think it’s our door bell going off.”

This isn’t the first time people have moaned about the issue. In fact, Ant and Dec issued a warning before the segment began, advising dog owners to keep their pets upstairs with ear muffs on just in case.

Earlier this year it was confirmed by Ant and Dec that the show would be taking a break from our screens. After 22 years, it will say goodbye in style, however – filmed across the entire TV Centre in London under the promise of its “biggest live show ever”, and featuring amazing live performances.

Ant, 48, said: “We can’t believe there are only a few shows left and we’re getting closer to the end. This series has been very special to make and we’re looking forward to making the last show a party to end all parties. The SNT production team have been working non stop to ensure this special, two hour finale has that SNT magic from start to finish.”

Dec, also 48, added: “The finale will be a real celebration of Saturday Night Takeaway over the years. We’re honoured and touched that for 20 series it’s been part of Saturday night TV viewing for so many families across the country. We’re giving it (and us! ) a rest for now, but we’ll take away and treasure some very special memories and moments. We will most certainly miss it.”

For that extra special final hurrah, Girls Aloud will play a starring role, whilst the show will be full of celebrity surprises with guests including Ashley Roberts, S-Club, Scarlett Moffatt, Andi Peters, Kaiser Chiefs, Jordan North and Tony Hadley.
