Sheridan Smith spotted kissing former BGT judge after planning to ‘marry’ her

Ex-BGT judge David Walliams treated his mate Sheridan Smith to a slap-up meal at London’s swanky Claridges Hotel for her pre-birthday bash.

The pair, who are thick as thieves, were snapped with their families, enjoying the posh nosh. Sheridan even gave David a peck on the cheek in a snap that showed off a plate with ‘Happy Birthday Sheridan’ scrawled in chocolate sauce.

Sheridan, gearing up to bring back her role in the much-loved BBC comedy Gavin and Stacey this Christmas, is just shy of hitting 43. Kicking off the celebrations early, the two celebs looked chuffed to bits in a series of snaps from their glitzy night out.

Funnyman and writer David, who’s recently been swapped out for Bruno Tonioli on Britain’s Got Talent, rocked up in a snazzy cream suit, while Sheridan kept it cool in a black top and jeans. Taking to Instagram, David, 52, shared the love with a post saying: “Happy Birthday (one month early) @sheridansmithster and thank you @claridgeshotel”.

Sheridan was quick to repost, adding: “The best afternoon with our families! Thank you”. Long-time pals David and Sheridan often team up for telly gigs, and David’s even had a laugh saying they might end up tying the knot if they’re both still single at 90.

“We do talk about getting married when we’re older. When we’ve exhausted all other opportunities. Do you know what I mean? If we’re still single, aged 90, we will get married to each other,” David quipped on Lorraine.

Sheridan could be on the brink of a reunion with ex-flame James Corden, following the announcement that Gavin and Stacey will be back this Christmas. Insiders have hinted that Sheridan is close to signing on for the final episode, with the storyline crafted by James and co-writer Ruth Jones reportedly featuring her character Ruth ‘Rudi’ Smith.

Despite contrary rumours, insiders close to the BBC show have revealed that informal discussions with the actress have already begun. This TV deal comes as a surprise to fans, particularly after Sheridan’s West End show Opening Night was abruptly cut short two months early, and she was noticeably missing from the 2019 Christmas Special.

A source revealed: “The script for Gavin and Stacey: The Finale includes all of the show’s major players – including Smithy’s sister Rudi. Nothing has been signed and conversations are still very much ongoing – especially as the filming date has not been set.”

“But all of the stops are being pulled out to make sure the whole cast are there, and in the coming weeks, the production team hopes to pin down everyone’s availability. Sheridan and James are still friendly – they recently bumped into each other at the Variety Club Awards and got on really well. So the hope is that she will be able to be part of it.”

The insider went on to say: “She did not appear in the Christmas Special because her character was not part of that storyline, but it has been a different story this time around. Everyone is very excited about this episode – it is going to be a phenomenal last hurrah for the series, which is exactly what it deserves.”
