Soap icon tipped for Corrie return 9 years after cobbles death to ‘bring back viewers’

Coronation Street could be set to welcome back Tina McIntyre in a huge twist.

Michelle Keegan played by the barmaid beauty – making her debut on the soap in 2008. And it’s fair to say she became a firm-favourite.

Tina was involved in several big storylines on the soap too. From her slew of affairs to feuds with fellow residents, her time in Weatherfield was not short of drama.

But in 2014, and after half-a-decade on the famous cobbles, Tina was killed off when she was pushed off a balcony. Despite managing to survive the fall, her character was beaten with a metal pole by Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) – which resulted in her death.

Tina was a firm-favourite on the ITV soap

Destined for bigger and better things, since her tragic exit, Michelle has kept herself busy – bagging roles in the likes of BBC smash hit Our Girl and Sky comedy series Brassic. She also had a main role in the recent Netflix smash Fool Me Once.

But it seems a return might be on the cards for Michelle as Tina. In exclusive odds provided by InstantCasino, the bookies have chalked up Michelle returning to the soap as 50/1.

What’s more, a PR expert reckons a return could happen due to the show’s decline in viewership. Rochelle White exclusively told us: “With such a shift in the type of content people like to watch bosses are seeing and feeling this too.”

Talking about Michelle she said: “They know that Michelle has had a great run of popular shows like Brassic, Our Girl and Fool Me Once. It’s not surprising that they would look to bring her back.”

Rochelle went on: “She has a loyal fan base and also helps capture that younger demographic. Sadly, the show’s viewership has declined because it is seen as an ‘old’ show and doesn’t really relate or appeal to younger audiences. This could have an impact that will improve the show’s viewerships.”

Meanwhile Dom Aldworth, Head of Brand Marketing at Slingo, told us that due to Tina getting killed, her return could be via a dream sequence. He said: “Michelle could return in other ways such as ghostly visions to other characters, in a flashback or dream sequence which has happened in the soap world before.”
