Soap star Johnny Wactor shot dead aged 37 in horror robbery gone wrong

Soap actor Johnny Wactor has tragically died at 37 after being shot.

The death of the actor, known for his role as Brando Corbin in the US daytime soap General Hospital, was confirmed by his mother Scarlett to TMZ. The incident occurred in downtown Los Angeles early on Saturday morning (May 25) when Johnny and a colleague noticed three men allegedly attempting to steal a catalytic converter from his car.

Despite not intervening, Johnny was fatally shot and, despite paramedics’ best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Paying tribute to the late actor, his agent David Shaul told People: “Not just a talented actor who was committed to his craft but a real moral example to everyone who knew him. Standing for hard work, tenacity and a never give up attitude.

“In the highs and lows of a challenging profession he always kept his chin up and kept striving for the best he could be.”

He added: “Our time with Johnny was a privilege we would wish on everyone. He would literally give you the shirt off his back. After over a decade together, he will leave a hole in our hearts forever.”

His on-screen wife, actress Sofia Mattsson, also paid her respects to her late co-star.

Posting on social media, one devastated viewer exclaimed: “What oh my god Johnny died nooo not fair. Hate this Johnny was just the best… oh my goodness can’t believe Johnny is gone.”

Johnny, a notable figure in Criminal Minds and Siberia, made his entry in the popular drama General Hospital as an ex-convict mechanic early in 2020 and remained until 2022. His character was met with a fatal end after being stabbed, waking up in the hospital and then tragically suffering a deadly seizure.
