Strictly Come Dancing officially announced their 2024 winner – but some fans think a certain couple were robbed of the title.

Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell were crowned the winners after a gruelling 12 weeks of training and performing every Saturday night. The judges were blown away by his waltz to Liverpool anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone, as well as his couple’s choice to John Lennon’s Instant Karma.

However, while the group hugs and tear-jerking thank yous got many at home emotional, several thought one couple was perhaps more deserving of the glitterball this year. While Chris got Shirley crying, many said Tasha was technically a better dancer.

JLS star JB Gill and Lauren Oakley, actress Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola, and Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec also took to the dancefloor for the final. But some fans said there was a more worthy winner.

A viewer noted on X: “Such a shame people vote for their favourite celebrity, not the best dancer. It’s been clear from day one who would win, simply based on who they are, not how they dance.”

Another echoed this sentiment, adding: “Was there any point watching #Strictly final? I mean it was a guarantee that Chris was going to win the glitterball no matter if someone is better on the night tbh feel bit sorry for the rest of the celebs for even trying.”

Some thought that although Chris was not the best dancer, as noted by Anton Du Beke in the show, he overcame the most obstacles. One said: “Chris is the weakest of the 4 finalists. But he is the most deserving winner.”

Another added: “Tasha and Sarah should have won, they were much more sleek on the dancefloor. But Chris is still a worthy winner.” A fourth penned: “Chris was amazing but Tasha was technically better.”
