Strictly Come Dancing tour ‘axed’ in fresh blow after BBC show’s explosive scandals

Strictly Come Dancing’s tour has reportedly been axed.

The BBC One show usually takes its professional dancers on the road across the UK on its Professionals Tour. The tour put on by BBC Studios started in 2010 and takes place in the spring and summer.

It comes after the Strictly Live! tour, which sees the pros and their celeb partners show off their dazzling routines seen on the show. Last year, 12 dancers featured on the tour, including Giovanni Pernice who left Strictly earlier this year.

It’s now claimed the tour was cancelled following the allegations of misconduct being investigated by the BBC. The findings of the probe are reportedly set to be released in the coming days.

It’s said the show is trying to rebuild its image following its scandals. A source told The Sun: “Strictly is trying to rebuild as a brand and The Professionals tour was known as a hotbed of drinking and fun.

“The pro dancers work hard and play hard but with everything that’s happened recently, it seems axing it eliminates the chance of any further issues. The people who usually work on The Professionals tour have been told it’s cancelled.”

Strictly was thrown into chaos earlier this year after Sherlock star Amanda Abbington quit the show early. The actress claimed Giovanni was “unnecessary, abusive, cruel, and mean” towards her during their time on the show.

Discussing the alleged abuse, Amanda previously claimed: “I know it happened because it happened to me. I am not a sensational person… I’m not hysterical. I don’t make things out to be bigger than they are.

“I know what happened to me in that room wasn’t acceptable…” Giovanni, who has denied all allegations, said in June he was “co-operating fully” with the BBC’s investigation and that he was looking forward to “establishing the truth”.

Fellow pro Graziano Di Prima has been axed from the show after kicking Love Island star Zara McDermott, his dance partner, in rehearsals. He has since apologised for the incident.

Daily Star has contacted the BBC for comment.
