Strictly newbie Toyah Wilcox, 66, ended up on adult site after saucy dancing videos

Toyah Wilcox has been announced as the fourth celebrity set to take to the Strictly dancefloor this autumn.

It’s fair to say the 80s rocker is best known for her huge hits such as It’s a Mystery and Thunder in the Mountains. But the 66-year-old musician may have caught the eye of BBC bosses for a completely different reason.

During the global lockdown in 2020, the chart-topper became a surprisingly viral sensation thanks to her racy dance videos. The performer made a string of YouTube music videos with her husband Robert Fripp in which she donned a series of sexy outfits.

She was spotted wearing a saucy French maid costume and a soaking wet sheer T-shirt. It didn’t take long before her cheeky videos found their way onto various porn sites and became a huge hit with consumers.

Her content would regularly rake in thousands of views as she belted out singles such as Born to Be Wild as she worked out on an exercise bike. The broadcaster – who has presented the likes of Songs of Praise and Good Sex Guide Late – even scored a 91 per cent rating on adult site XHamster.

In one clip, Toyah poured water all over herself while braless in a white T-shirt, which revealed white crosses taped across her chest underneath. In another video, she sang the Iron Maiden track The Number of the Beast whilst wearing bunny ears and munching on a carrot.

Other popular videos saw the songstress dressed in a PVC maid’s uniform, in a policewoman’s uniform and even covered herself in body paint. The popular YouTube series – which Toyah and Robert started during lockdown – was called Sunday Lunch and regularly attracted millions of viewers who tuned in to her weekly show.

The couple – who tied the knot in May 1986 – have also rocked out to Firestarter by The Prodigy, Satisfaction by The Rolling Stones and Breaking The Law by Judas Priest. In another controversial video, Toyah showed her support for the #FreeBritney movement.

She celebrated the pop princess by dressing up as the starlet from her Me Against The Music video. She could be seen with a big smile on her face as she performed Billy Idol’s Rebel Yell, alongside her husband.

Her new fanbase also showed their love for another clip where she could be seen wearing a cheerleader costume. The blonde bombshell made a name for herself as a singer in the band named Toyah.

She eventually moved away from the group and became a successful soloist, using the same name. Toyah will be joining the star-studded line-up alongside comedian Chris McCausland, JLS star JB Gill and opera singer Wynne Evans.

Toyah joined Vernon Kay on his Radio 2 show as she spilled the beans to her listeners after performing at Glastonbury in June. She gushed that competing in the show will top off what has been an incredible year from start to finish.

The hitmaker told listeners: “I’ve done so many festivals and Glastonbury and I wanted to be like, ‘Guess what?!’ I played the Avalon stage and I kept denying I was doing Strictly.

“I wanted to say to people, ‘Do you like my moves?’. I’m super excited and love this show. To be a part of it, the spray tan the glitter. It’s a landmark year for me. I became a pensions, [performed at] Glasto and now I get spray tans.”
