Rocky legend Sylvester infuriated his neighbours after he submitted plans to local authorities to build an odd barrier in the middle of the sea which could disrupt the environment
Sylvester Stallone has left neighbour angry after making a bizarre planning permission application.
Acting icon Sylvester, 78, has been suffering from a number of health conditions throughout the years as he moves on from his fighting and action career. The star is now living it up in Florida after moving from his old home, which is now being sold for millions.
But it appears that Sylvester has not made himself many friends in the neighbourhood he has moved to, after submitting strange building plans to the local authority. The Rocky actor is hoping to build a large underwater barrier next to his multi-million dollar home.
Rambo legend Sylvester has applied to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, plans that would put a seaweed barrier in place around the area’s Intercoastal Waterway. The US Army Corps of Engineers has also been consulted for the feasibility of the project, according to documents seen by The Palm Beach Post.
According to the newspaper, the barrier has been asked for in order to stop boats from getting close to his property. The Army Corps released a public notice about the plans, which falls into the category of being an environmental project, as work will need to be carried out underground.
The notice also covers the amount of debris and seaweed in the local area, which Stallone has noted is a priority to clean. However, while Sylvester has submitted the plans, neighbours of the acting star are furious, with residents having until December 25 to voice their concerns or objections.
As well as this, the star – who also starred in the likes of Tulsa King – has asked for federal land, owned by the US Government to be leased to him so the barrier can be positioned properly. Speaking to the Palm Beach Post, neighbour Bradford Gary has said his plans for the house are too ambitious.
Bradford explained: “I can see why you’d want to protect it. But you can’t just kind of stake your claim and think you own the water.”
Similarly, Bradford’s wife Susan told the paper “a lot of neighbours are concerned” about the plans to disrupt the area, which could impact local wildlife. She said that timings and respect for local neighbours should also have been considered when submitting the applications.
Sylvester recently upped sticks from Southern California to Florida, and bought his new luscious home for an eye-watering $35million. However, his plans for the barrier motion for years, having first raised the issue back in January of 2023.
Formal plans about the barrier were given to the Army Corps in August of 2024, with the barrier said to be about 8 inches above the water, before going to about 10 inches beneath the waterline. A spokesperson for the corps said the force was “reviewing the project purpose to determine if the use of barrier for the purpose of deterring boaters within the public waterway is permittable”.
