Taylor Swift’s heartbreaking statement after two kids killed in mass stabbing at fan event

Taylor Swift has admitted she is “completely in shock” after a mass stabbing at a dance workshop in Southport left two children dead.

A 17-year-old boy remains in custody after two children died with others in a critical condition at the Taylor Swift-themed event. Six children and two adults, including yoga teacher Leanne Lucas, who attempted to defend themselves from the “ferocious” attack have been left critically injured.

The teenager is accused of attempted murder and is being questioned following the shocking incident in Southport, Merseyside, on Monday (July 29). Taking to Instagram, the hitmaker said she was “at a complete loss” for words as she shared her sympathies online.

She wrote: “The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously, and I’m just in complete shock. The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families, and first responders.

“These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.” Her fans have raised more than £20,000 for the families of the victims.

A JustGiving page called Swifties for Southport was set up hours after the incident took place, raising more than £21,000 for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, where many victims have been treated. The Taylor Swift UK & EU Facebook group organisers have revealed the money would go to the hospital’s charity wing.

In a statement, the group wrote: “We are working with Alder Hey Children’s Hospital to help raise money for the families affected by the tragedy in Southport, and raising funeral funds for the two young swifties who have tragically passed.

“Every donation through this link goes directly to the verified charity below, which will in turn help make a difference to those impacted in a time of great sadness.” Police explained that although the motivation for the attack was “unclear” it is not being treated as a terror-related attack.

Witnesses to the horrific incident recalled how the alleged knifeman arrived at the dance studio in a taxi and left without paying for his fare. Emergency services said the scene was “horrific” and “chaotic” as they arrived at the children’s club. All casualties are now being treated in hospitals.

King Charles said he and Camilla were “profoundly shocked” to hear of the incident, while Prince William and Kate described it as a “horrid and heinous” attack.

The holiday club was advertised as a dance and yoga workshop themed around Swift’s music which also had a bracelet making class. A vigil for the victims is planned for tonight (July 30).

At the scene, flowers and teddies were left by the police cordon. Prime Minister Sir Kier Starmer is set to visit the town on Tuesday (July 30).
