Television stars pay tribute to Dr Michael Mosley as his body is found after search

Tributes have begun to pour in from some of the biggest names in showbiz following the news that a body was found in search for This Morning star Michael Mosley.

On Sunday (June 9), it was confirmed that a body had been found in the rescue mission for the missing TV doctor – who vanished near a hiking trail on the Greek island, Symi. Local police have now confirmed the body is the beloved doctor.

A body was first spotted by a camera crew filming by the sea, despite rescue teams passing the same spot. The health expert first went missing on Wednesday (June 5) which prompted a “desperate” five-day search.

This recruited dozens of police officers to search the area with the aid of helicopters, divers, dogs and drones. The search had turned to a network of caves known locally as The Abyss, and it is believed a body was found by search staff nearby, reportedly with an umbrella.

The body of Mihael Mosley has now been removed from Symi island on a boat. Five firefighters left the island with a body on a stretcher at around 2.45pm local time, having arrived 35 minutes earlier.

Now the TV personality’s famous friends and loving fans have taken to social media to share their touching tributes to the late star and his grieving family. Ranvir Singh shared her devastation on Instagram, writing: “Terribly sad news. Thank you for changing the lives of thousands of people – including mine – for the better.”

Taking to X – formerly known as Twitter – Piers Morgan branded the latest development “very sad”. He wrote: “BREAKING: Body found in search for TV doctor Michael Mosley on Greek island of Symi. Very sad development.”

Former This Morning panellist and TALK presenter Julia Hartley Brewer penned: “This is very sad news. I interviewed Michael Mosley a few times about his Fast800 diet and he was an absolutely lovely man. My condolences to his family.”

Longtime GMTV presenter Anthea Turner posted on Instagram: “I know you’ve been following Dr Michael Mosley’s story, I’ve been glued to every update but this was the tragic news we all feared.

“With so much passion and a cheeky smile on his face, he spent his life encouraging us all to make healthy choices. He wanted everyone to live a longer, better, more fulfilled life.

“His family will be broken, thinking of them and his friends on Symi,” she concluded. Celebrity chef Jamie Olive also paid tribute on the platform. He wrote: “Rest in peace Michael Mosley…

“Absolutely devastating news about the sad loss of fellow tv presenter Michael Mosley today. What a wonderfully sweet, kind and gentle man he was. He did such a lot of good for public health with his TV shows and research.

“He was a curious investigator, producer and presenter and often changed the conversation around many public health issues for the better. He will be sadly missed… love and thoughts to Claire and all of his family [prayer emoji] jamie o xx.”

Meanwhile, TV presenter Ulrika Jonsson took to her Instagram Story where she posted a screenshot of the star in action. She captioned the post: “Such tragic news. What [a] lovely, lovely man. Thinking of his family.”

Loose Women presenter Kaye Adams added: “So sad to hear the news about Dr Michael Mosley. We really have lost one of the good guys.

“I’ve interviewed him countless times over the years and he was always the same – kind, interesting, interested and warm. Heartfelt condolences to his loved ones.”

Her former co-star Katie Price also posted a picture of the deceased star onto her story, which she captioned: “RIP”.
