ITV viewers were left scratching their heads after trying to figure out a brain-teaser on Lee Mack’s quiz show The 1% Club, with many claiming the question wasn’t clear
The 1% Club viewers have been complaining about what they claim is a “trick question”.
Fans were fuming over the ITV quiz show hosted by comedian Lee Mack, which first aired in 2022. Fans were shocked to see Celebrity Big Brother star Yinrun Huang appear on the show earlier this year.
The show sees 100 contestants test their skills in common sense and logic in order to win a top prize of up to £100k. The final question, however, is one that only 1% of the country would answer correctly.
Fans tuned into the final episode of the new series last week, but were left scratching their heads because of a particularly difficult question. At the 15% mark, Lee asked: “Which of these groups of six symbols are in the same order whether you read them from left to right or from right to left?
The answer [see above image] was “C”, but fans were completely thrown by the question and many felt it was unclear. And many believed the show had got it wrong and that “A” was in fact the right answer.
One on X, formerly Twitter, wrote: “Baffled! I didn’t understand this one at all,” as another complained: “I said A and I still think A. I don’t understand how it’s not.”
Another penned: “I thought it was A. C isn’t in the same order. Explain, please, someone?”. Another claimed: “This is a trick question, A or C could be correct depending on the definition of right to left used”.
And another said: “My conclusion, badly phrased question. Worse than Lee Mack’s suit imho”. However, one brainy viewer was on hand to explain things.
They wrote: “Because it’s how you read it. I thought it was A, too, but it starts as a Closed bracket, whereas C starts the same as the end. I hope that explains it.”
Another viewer wrote in depth: “It’s not about being mirrored; it’s about what symbol is what. So A would be (from L-R): left bracket, right bracket, left bracket etc, but R-L it would be; right bracket, left bracket etc. which is difference.
“Whereas C is left arrow-right arrow-right arrow etc from both ends!” Meanwhile, another explained: “It is.. first one is pointing left, then 4 in the middle are pointing right, then last one is pointing left. Same applies if you start from the other side and go backwards.”
