The Chase’s Mark Labbett shared how he was forced to “surrender” during the latest episode.
The hit ITV gameshow was back on TV screens on Friday (May 30) as telly legend Bradley Walsh welcomed four new quizzers. As fans tuned in, he introduced contestants Fabe, Robyn, Joe and Angelene before they battled it out to take home the all-important cash prize.
This week the quartet were up against Mark Labbett who made sure to bring his A-game against the wise quizzers. But when it came to Fabe’s turn he soon got the chaser talking.

During his cash builder, the primary school teacher managed to get nice correct answers. He was then offered £1,000, £9,000 and £40,000 – but ended up choosing the middle offer of nine grand.
Fabe explained: “If I was sitting in a different seat I might have gone for the 40, but since I’m starting off I’ll stick to the nine.” He then explained that this was due to the team being unsure of how the chaser would do and wanting to not get caught.
Mark said: “It is an absolute waste of the best player in seat one.” Bradley agree and said: “Yeah, it is a shame that.”
Mark replied: “You’re almost trapped by the offers. If you’re not the best player, I surrender now!”
Fabe managed to make it through his round – bagging a spot in the final. Up next was Robyn, who racked up seven grand in her cash builder. She ended up picking a low offer of £1,000 – however it wasn’t enough as she was caught by Mark.
For the final chase, it was only Fabe and player Angeline who made it – and were playing for a hefty sum of £17,000. Sadly, it was Mark’s lucky day as he managed to beat the team – sending them home empty handed.
Fans were quick to react to the game. Over on X, formerly known as Twitter, one person said: “So, Mark was on form. He’s bloody good!.” Someone else added: “Oh well.”
