The Chase’s Bradley Walsh stunned after failing to spot bizarre pattern in players’ names

The Chase host Bradley Walsh was forced to quickly move on after failing to spot an unusual pattern in the contestants’ names.

The hit ITV gameshow was back on TV screens on Friday (May 10) as telly legend Bradley Walsh welcomed four new quizzers. As fans tuned in, he introduced contestants Roy, Danny, Eileen and Carmen before they battled it out to take home the all-important cash prize.

This week the quartet was up against Shaun Wallace, also known as The Dark Destroyer, who made sure to bring his A-game against the wise quizzers. But things took an awkward turn when Bradley failed to spot a pattern with the contestants’ names.

As The Chaser sat down in his chair to take on player one Roy, he broke out in song: “You can see from your names… ‘Come on Eileen’ – get it? Carmen – Eileen.”

Bradley was left stunned

Shaun was referring to the Dexy’s Midnight Runners song. He added: “And the Londonderry Air – ‘Oh Danny Roy…'”

The audience then started to laugh as player Roy quipped: “Can I change my choice?” But host Bradley failed to pick up the pattern. Stunned, he said: “Yes… no I didn’t see it. Carmen Eileen and Danny Roy. Right ok, songs.”

Bradley failed to spot the link

Fans also pointed out the name patter. Rushing over to X, formerly known as Twitter, one person said: ‘Anyone spotted the names? Come On Eileen, and Danny Boy.” Someone else penned: “Check the names out.”

Player one Roy managed to make it back to the team, as did player three Eileen. Between them, the pair had racked up an impressive £11,000.

The Chaser had to tell Bradley about the pattern

The final player Carmen was playing for £3,000 in her head-to-head against Shaun. Sadly, she was caught meaning it was just Roy and Eileen in the Final Chase where they managed to get 13 questions correct.

Telling them team “you need a lot of pushbacks” Bradley then brought out the Chaser for the last time. And as expected, he came up triumphs catching the score’s team of 13 with 19 seconds left on the clock.
