The Chase’s Paul Sinha has revealed he has no qualms about depriving contestants and charities of winnings.
Paul Sinha, dubbed “The Sinnerman” on the ITV quiz show, is one of the experts whose job is to stop quizzers from winning money by outscoring them. However he admits he did feel terrible when it was a charity close to his heart that he stopped from landing a £15,000 windfall.
Sinha – also a Radio 4 presenter and a former GP – has Parkinson’s disease and once prevented Rachel Johnson from landing the cash for charity Parkinson’s UK during a charity fundraising edition of the show.

Speaking of depriving charities generally of cash, he said: “You might think it makes us feel guilty.
“I don’t feel any sympathy for them at all because it’s my job and I can’t feel sorry.”
But he added: “A few years ago I played against Giles Coren and Rachel Johnson and I was determined to win. I really, really, really wanted to win. And I won with two seconds to go. A year later I watched the episode, and it turned out that Rachel Johnson was trying to raise money for Parkinson’s UK.
“I have Parkinson’s disease, I’m a spokesperson for Parkinson’s disease, I work with Parkinson’s UK, and I’m personally responsible for them not receiving £15,000.”
Sinha, 54, added that he doesn’t get any bonus for saving ITV cash by beating contestants. He told BBC radio: “If I got a bonus I’d be a very, very wealthy man indeed – there’s no bonus.”
