The One Show appeared to avoid discussing Jermaine Jenas after his axe from the BBC.
Presenter Alex Jones failed to mention any of the drama surrounding her former co-host Jermaine Jenas during The One Show on Thursday (August 22). It comes after the former footballer was sacked by the BBC and accused of “inappropriate behaviour”.
Greeting viewers, Alex said: “Hello, and welcome to Thursday’s The One Show on BBC One and iPlayer with Clara Amfo.” The pair congratulated students who had received their GCSE results but didn’t mention Jermaine’s departure from the organisation.

But viewers were frustrated that the departure of Jermaine, who used to host The One Show with Alex, hadn’t been mentioned on the show. Viewers rushed to X to complain.
One wrote: “They should at least mention there’s someone missing and won’t be seen again #TheOneShow.” Another agreed: “#TheOneShow so they never addressed anything.”
A third wrote: “Not the one show pretending Jermaine Jenas doesn’t even exist #TheOneShow.” A fourth said: “The elephant in the room won’t be addressed on cam. It’s like he never even presented on the show #theoneshow,” a fourth penned.
Another said: “They haven’t mentioned Jermaine Jenas but we’ve got this so swings and roundabouts #TheOneShow.” A sixth added: “Not addressing the elephant in the room then? #theoneshow.”
Jermaine, who started hosting The One Show in 2020, has released a statement after his sacking. His axe has been attributed to “workplace conduct” with it reported that digital communications were raised with the corporation a few weeks ago.
It’s been claimed one woman complained about “unsolicited messages”. A source told The Sun: “The first complaint was raised after Jermaine flirtily messaged a female [colleague], and she raised her misgivings in a formal capacity.”
Jermaine was presenting a radio show on talkSPORT around the time that the news of his departure from the BBC was announced. He said on the show: “Look, I can’t really talk about it. I, as you can probably see, I am not happy about it.
“But currently, as it stands, I’m going to have to let the lawyers deal with it. You know, there’s two sides to every story, as we know. So that’s all I can say right now.”
