The Secret Garden’s Kate Maberly has barely aged since she child star fame in 90s

Kate Maberly has barely aged since she charmed viewers as a talented 10-year-old in The Secret Garden.

The actress rose to fame as the character Mary Lennox in the 1993 big screen adaptation of writer Frances Hodgson Burnett’s book, which also starred Maggie Smith. And recent snaps show that she still looks exactly the same, with the same glossy dark brown locks and sweet smile.

Now 42, the star looks as if she has hardly got any older since her days on set in director Agnieszka Holland’s movie. Kate has continued to work in the industry and has been spotted on the odd red carpet, and has also given fans a peek at her today in a few snaps on Instagram.

Recent images show her looking way younger than her years, but instantly recognisable for her most famous role. “You look amazing!” exclaimed one fan on Instagram. “You were so amazing in The Secret Garden. Had a crush on you haha.”

“The Secret Garden still touches my heart to this day,” said another admirer. “Thank you for everything.” “I’m a big fan of yours,” said somebody else. “This movie hits differently, brings back childhood memories.”

Another person wrote: “I still watch it every year. It’s one of my all time favourite films and you did such an incredible job as Mary.” “I am literally watching this at this very moment, for the first time in years and was just thinking that it doesn’t seem to matter how much time has passed or how old I get, this movie is still so magical,” remarked one fan.

The film was a childhood fave for many fans

Kate has continued to act, appearing in films such as Finding Neverland, Rites Of Passage and Standing Up. She has also been on the small screen, in programmes including Midsomer Murders, A Touch Of Frost and Victoria & Albert. But she has made it clear that The Secret Garden was a special project.

Posting a snap on Instagram after a recent article about the film, she said: “Forever proud of this one… which had such a monumental effect on my life.. and it seems perhaps a small affect on many many more…”
