This Morning fans fume over host demand as they ask ‘what has this show come to’

This Morning fans are lost for words after witnessing a “humiliated” request from hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.

On the ITV show, Hammond and O’Leary spoke to Grand Designs star Kevin McCloud regarding the 25th anniversary of the show. After their discussion, the hosts set Kevin the task of putting together a piece of flat pack furniture in just four minutes across the ad break, which left viewers fuming.

Fans of the show took to X/Twitter to share their thoughts and one person even branded the move “humiliating” toward McCloud, while others questioned whether they could “make a guest do that”.

One person wrote: “I wonder sometimes what this show has come to, it’s very confusing,” while another said: “I’d tell them to f*** off, poor Kev.” Someone else added: “You can’t make your guest do that,” as another This Morning viewer said: “I’m losing the will to live. Next!”

Another furious viewer typed: “Why are Dermot and Alison humiliating respected designer and broadcaster Kevin McCloud?” as one person jokingly wrote: “Thanks for the interview, can you just knock this cabinet together for [a] laugh…”

This Morning has recently been hitting the headlines after a regular guest on the show almost swore during a rant. Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley spoke to Alice Beer about door to door scammers and tiptoed around using an expletive.

Beer said: “Can I just say to all those flogging feather dusters on doorsteps, I’ve looked you up many, many times. It ain’t genuine. I’m all for helping re-offenders, I’m all for helping people who have been institutionalised and need help getting out there and getting jobs, but it’s not a valid thing to do, knocking on doors and selling dusters and tea towels.

“They are not kosher. Can I swear? Can I use a word that begins with B and ends in ‘ollocks’? No, no, no. It’s not legit. Sorry, look up the charities they pretend to be working for.” Cat and Ben nervously laughed at her quip as Alice asked: “Was I clever?” Deeley responded that she was “very clever” and Beer joked that it was “a big ask for her on a Thursday morning!”
