This Morning star confirms co-host ‘forgave’ him after awkward on-air name blunder

This Morning star Gok Wan has confirmed his TV co-host forgave him after he was called out for a name blunder on air.

Just moments into his first show alongside Rylan Clark back in 2018, Gok made a minor slip-up which Rylan called him out for. Rylan opened the show by saying: “Welcome to your mid-week edition of This Morning with the one and only Gok Wan.”

Gok then added: “And the one and only Ryan Clark-Neal.” Rylan quipped: “Who?” Looking shocked, Gok said: “What did I say? Did I call you Ryan already? It’s Ryan from the tele can you believe it?”

Rylan laughed: “You do this all the time… They said Gok really wants to do the show with you, I said ‘I’d love to do the show with Gok’. We were 10 seconds in…”

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, he recalled the blunder and confirmed Rylan had, in fact, forgiven him for the minor mistake. He said: “I think Rylan would forgive me for anything. It’s live TV and we’re only human.

“The amount of times that I’ve said stuff that I shouldn’t have said it’s come out of my mouth. But that’s live telly for you. It’s just It’s just what happens. “It’s what makes it super fun. Of course Rylan, or Ryan, has forgiven me I’m literally like it’s auntie.”

We spoke exclusively to Gok as he promoted JD Williams’ new midlife fashion campaign. Talking further about the project, Gok said: “I’ve been working with JD Williams this year, which has been a match made in heaven. They asked me to come on board for their midlife campaign, but midlife had a very positive way. When we often think about midlife, we think of midlife crisis, we go midlife terror. But actually, it’s not about that. It’s about embracing your experiences, the wisdom that you found over the years getting to know your body, getting to know your clothing, your style.

They loved working together on the campaign

“I got to work with Judi Love who we know is a great comic and this woman and Helen Skelton who of course is from Country File and Blue Peter. I got the opportunity to dress them and talk to them about juggling careers and children and being on screen being on stage and just what it feels like to dress yourself. It was a fun super campaign that resonated very well with the audience and a lot of people not only existing JD Williams customers, but also hopefully new customers as well.”

JDWilliams.co.uk has partnered with TV personalities Judi Love, Gok Wan and Helen Skelton as part of a new campaign aimed at challenging misconceptions surrounding midlife women and celebrating their relevance, roles, and individuality. This collaboration introduces two distinct edits curated by fashion expert Gok, tailored specifically for Judi and Helen based on their unique styles, body shapes, and personalities. Each item of clothing is available online now in sizes 8 to 32.
