Three Hollyoaks characters ‘killed’ and three fighting for their lives after fatal crash

Several Hollyoaks characters have been “killed off” with two left in critical condition following a fatal multi-car collision.

Viewers were left on the edge of their seats during the Channel 4 soap’s annual hour-long stunt episode, which dropped on Channel 4 online tonight (Monday, January 15), as Ella Richardson (Erin Palmer) was found dead after being run over by Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) in a shock twist.

Ste was called away from Sienna Blake’s (Anna Passey) wedding day to Rafe Harcourt (Chris Gordon) after a worrying phone call from his drunk daughter Leah Barnes (Elá-May Melek Demircan) who had fallen out with pal Ella.

As Ste searched for the teenager in the a field, he found her lying unconscious on the ground. The concerned father managed to get Leah into his car and rushed to get her to hospital. However, as he turned his head to find his daughter had been sick in the back seat, Ste went the wrong way around the roundabout and caused a huge accident.

In the other vehicle, Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood) was driving his wife-to-be Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) to their wedding day after learning about her secret affair. He was left gobsmacked to learn that her mystery man was in fact his best mate Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas), who happened to be sitting in the back seat of the car.

As Felix fumed at the betrayal of Mercedes and Warren, he sped up his car but didn’t manage to stop in time before he crashed. Warren and Felix managed to get out of the vehicle but bride-to-be Mercedes was left unconscious and was rushed to hospital.

In heartbreaking scenes, Warren later learned about the death of his daughter Ella after spotting one of her red boots which he bought her for Christmas. As Ste took some fresh air after taking Leah to the hospital, he noticed a red boot stuck to the tyre of his car.

A third vehicle involved in the crash featured Mercedes’ mum Myra McQueen (Nicole Barber-Lane), Cleo McQueen (Nadie Mulkerrin) and Theresa McQueen (Jorgie Porte), leaving fans watching at home gobsmacked as all three characters haven’t been seen on screen for a while. Firefighters Leela Lomax (Kirsty-Leigh Porter) and Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas-Speed) were in attendance and the latter was left shellshocked to see his ex Cleo back in the village.

Elsewhere, in a fourth car, two mystery characters were seen in the aftermath of the crash. As the driver appeared lifeless, a mysterious woman was seen stealing her belongings and running away from the scene of the crime.

Elsewhere in the village, Dilly Harcourt (Emma Johnsey-Smith) brutally attacked her secret husband Rafe Harcourt (Chris Gordon) with a bell after he admitted no no longer loved her and wanted to be with Sienna, who he was originally just pretending to have feelings for as part of Dilly’s plan to take her rival down.

Dilly told Sienna that Rafe had changed his mind but she’d actually tied him up to make sure he couldn’t get away from her. However, as as she went to visit Rafe, towards the end of the episode, Dilly was left gobsmacked to find him no longer breathing. Fans will have to wait and see if there’s anymore twists yet to come from the fallout of the crash.
