With a brand new series of ITV quiz show Tipping Point kicking off this week, one contestant was keen to share exactly what he thought of Ben Shephard’s game show.
Three new players headed to the studio to compete for a cash prize – Ross, Clifton and Caroline. Though Caroline was eliminated by the second round with just £200 in her prize pot, Clifton was in the lead with £2,000 after dropping an incredible 14 counters in one go.
Ross Lannon lagged slightly behind with £1,050 in his bank – but he had three words to explain just how his experience on the show was. He headed to X – formerly Twitter – to tweet: “Oh hey @benshephard! So I’ve been sitting on some news… and can finally reveal that I will be a contestant on ITV’s #TippingPoint TONIGHT at 4pm!”
In four words, he explained just how he enjoyed himself, describing the show as “a lot of fun” and urging fans: “So tune in if you can.” Fans were loving Ross on the programme – and one couldn’t get over his uncanny resemblance to a soap favourite.
One social media user compared him to Coronation Street’s Daniel Osbourne, played by Rob Mallard. They penned: “We’re watching now Ross. You look a lot like Daniel on Coronation Street!”
Others thought Ross reminded them more of comedian Jon Richardson, while some even chimed in to compare him to cartoon hero Tintin.
Sadly Ross was eliminated while Clifton went through to the final round to compete for the jackpot prize – but he didn’t go empty-handed, having won a mystery prize of a cocktail subscription and £1,650.
He admitted: “It’s been great!” as host Ben branded him “an absolute dream”.
Despite it being the launch day of a new series, fans online were left unhappy that the show was still repeating some of its questions, with one tweeting: “It might be new but they’re repeating the questions.”
Another moaned: “Typical #tippingpoint question to start.” Others were left in hysterics at some of Clifton’s answers – assuming Adobe was a famous magician and labelling God Save the Queen a “hymn”.
