Tupac Shakur’s brother has revealed that a new investigation into the rapper’s murder is underway.
Mopreme Shakur dropped the bombshell and is casting doubt on Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ denial of involvement. During a chat with Piers Morgan on his show Piers Morgan Uncensored, Mopreme made the shocking revelation.
This comes hot on the heels of the recent arrest of P Diddy in New York on charges of racketeering and sex trafficking, which he “categorically denies”. It has been 27 years since Tupac was shot dead in 1996 while cruising around Las Vegas with former Death Row Records boss, Suge Knight.

Mopreme told Piers: “The family is pursuing an investigation into my brother’s death, wherever the investigation leads, that’s where it leads. It’s not about that guy specifically, it’s about justice for my brother.” Suspicions over Sean Combs’ involvement were sparked among friends and family at the time.
Speculation also started following the jailing of Diddy’s known associate Keefe D last year. Reports suggest that Keefe D was allegedly paid by Sean to kill Tupac – but these allegations remain unproven and are vehemently denied by Combs, reports the Mirror.
Mopreme stated: “It’s been an on-going mystery for 27 years. With the arrest in Vegas (of Keefe D), there was a break, an opportunity to get closer to the truth. This is on-going business for us. My family pursued an investigation, early on, soon after his murder, of which nothing came of it. So we were left with no answers for 27 years. Now we might have the opportunity to get some answers.”
In 2008, Mopreme revealed that Sean reached out to him to deny any involvement in the allegations. He said: “He was in LA at the time, he was on the radio. He asked a local DJ that we all know, Big Boy, to reach out to me. Because he wanted to speak to me about something. This is a few years after Pac’s murder. We all were familiar with all the rumours and stuff.”
He continued: “I said, ‘Yeah, let me talk to him’. So he called me and I had my guys with me, thug life guys, and we heard what he had to say. He’s basically said he ain’t had nothing to do with my brother’s murder. And I told him, ‘The truth is still yet to come out, so we gonna see’. Here we are 27 – 28 years later and there looks like there is some doubt in that statement. So this, along with all the other suspensions that people had, it was time for it to be investigated.”
Mopreme was sceptical about Sean’s denial, saying: “My opinion is that, I don’t believe it was 100% honest statement – so again, we have to find out what is true and what’s false, what’s real and what’s fake.” He also touched on the notorious east coast-west coast rap rivalry during the height of Tupac’s career and suggested it played a role in his brother’s untimely demise.
On the topic of Sean’s recent legal woes, Mopreme clarified: “We have nothing to do with his current situation, with the sex trafficking, I have nothing to do with none of that. Our issues were prior to that. The fact this Keefe D dude got arrested, he’s a known associate of Combs, that’s just a fact. So Stevie Wonder can see that!”
