Zach Braff, a fan favourite from Scrubs, has hinted that a reboot of the show might be in the works.
The medical sitcom, which aired for nine years until 2010, primarily followed the lives of Sacred Heart Hospital interns John ‘J. D’ Dorian, Elliot Reid and Christopher Turk as they honed their skills under the guidance of seasoned doctors Bob Kelso, Perry Cox and Carla Espinosa.
Braff, who portrayed J. D, recently spilled the beans to Entertainment Tonight that these beloved characters could potentially make a comeback on our screens – but it all depends on the contractual situation of Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence, he warned.
“I’m gonna tell you something that nobody else is gonna get. Scrubs is a Disney show. Bill has a Warner Bros. deal. Once those two companies figure that out, I think the people will get what they want. I think it’s gonna happen,” he hinted.
The 49 year old actor, who received three Golden Globe nominations for his role, expressed his excitement at the prospect of reuniting with his co-stars Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, Ken Jenkins, John C. McGinley and Judy Reyes, reports the Mirror.
“We all still hang out,” Braff shared. “A lot of people who were on long shows say that, but it’s true. I was just on vacation with Sarah Chalke. I’m going to the beach with Bill next weekend. We’re all friends.” Despite enjoying a phenomenal run though, the Scrubs experience “exhausted” its cast.
Speaking on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, Braff said: “I miss laughing every day. Belly laughing every day was – that was the job. And when that goes away, by the time nine years were over, we were sort of all exhausted by it.”
“We were starting to repeat jokes. Everyone’s pretty fried. We would do insane hours that people don’t even do anymore. We didn’t really have much of a life outside of it. So we were just kind of fried.”
