Amanda Holden was among the stars who turned out to celebrate the 100th anniversary of McVitie’s Chocolate Digestives, where she wowed in a chocolate-coloured dress
Amanda Holden was an absolute stunner as she rocked up to the McVitie’s Chocolate Digestives’ 100th birthday bash. The telly fave dazzled in a figure-clinging, chocolate-coloured frock, mingling with Roman Kemp, Denise van Outen, and a host of stars on the swanky ‘blue carpet’ affair in Piccadilly.
The event was buzzing with celebs like Jess Wright, Tasha Ghouri, Dani Dyer, Scarlett Moffatt, and news legend Sir Trevor McDonald, all popping by for the opening of an indulgent pop-up devoted to the beloved McVitie’s biscuit. The temporary treat haven will open to biscuit lovers this weekend, who can nab a variety of freebies, and try bespoke goodies as part of the celebrations.
Amanda shared that the pop-up is a must visit for die hard biscuit fans, confessing: “As a lifelong fan of eating and dunking Chocolate Digestives, it’s an honour to celebrate the 100th birthday at this pop-up experience.”
She added: “It’s amazing how such a humble biscuit has brought joy to so many over the years. I remember when I first introduced them to my children as a little treat,” but shared she’s actually been eating the treats incorrectly all along. “Turns out, it’s meant to be enjoyed choc side down – who knew?”
The exclusive pop-up event is set to take place in the heart of London at Piccadilly Circus. The event is free and open to the public, but it’s only for one weekend, so you’ll need to make room in your schedule if you plan on attending.
The highlight of this unique experience is the Biscuit Bar, where attendees can savour never-before-seen treats made from a variety of Digestives. The menu boasts a range of bold and unexpected flavour combinations, all curated by Robert Craggs, the Michelin-trained head development chef at McVitie’s.
Among the inventive creations are the ‘Hot Pink’ biscuit, which combines White Chocolate Digestives with wasabi, raspberry, and white chocolate, and the ‘Loaded Gold’ biscuit, topped with hazelnut praline and salted caramel.
For those who want to add a personal touch, there’s also a station where Digestive enthusiasts can craft their own customised chocolatey masterpieces with a selection of toppings.
Reflecting on the milestone, Benazir Barlet-Bartada from McVitie’s said: “This 100th anniversary is not just about a biscuit. It’s a national celebration of every biscuit break, every conversation, and every cherished moment we’ve all shared with Chocolate Digestives over the last century.”
In honour of the iconic 100th birthday of the nation’s beloved biscuit, McVitie’s Chocolate Digestives has also launched a range of limited-edition merchandise, including trendy t-shirts, comfy socks, and fashionable caps. All of these items can be won as part of the ‘spin and win’ game taking place during the event.
As part of the event, there is also collection of artworks inspired by – and actual munchable masterpieces crafted from – the humble biscuit. Mosaic maestro Ed Chapman has put in 180 gruelling hours and used over 1,000 McVitie’s Digestives to whip up portraits of Brit icons like David Bowie, Sir Trevor McDonald, and Dame Judi Dench.
But if that wasn’t enough, there’s a unique work showing 25 of the greatest moments from the last 100 years, each depicted on individual Chocolate Digestives, brought to life on a biscuit using a delicate airbrushing technique.
Benazir Barlet-Bartada added: “We’re thrilled to offer our loyal fans this incredible experience as a way to say thank you for the unwavering support over the last century – here’s to the next 100.”
The McVitie’s Chocolate Digestives Experience is free to attend and open to the public from Friday 2nd May – Monday 5th May from 11AM – 7PM, at 44-48 Regent Street, Picadilly, W1, London.
