Britain’s Got Talent’s first live semi final was cut short after one of the acts pulled out of their live slot.
Taking to the stage, Ant and Dec announced the end of the acts over half an hour before the show was due to end at 9pm. They looked at the cameras and said that Teddy Magic would no longer be performing. Earlier, the show was opened by dinosaur rockers Heavysaurus, the hosts explained that the second act, Teddy Magic, “wasn’t ready” to perform. Instead, they spoke to the judges about the previous act.
“Now, Teddy isn’t quite ready backstage yet. He hasn’t got his magic up and ready yet, so we’ll chat to you judges,” Ant said, while Dec shared that they were going to have a “little change of plan”.
“Just while he gets himself ready and composed backstage,” Ant added.
Now, it has been announced that Teddy will not be on stage at all. However, Ant and Dec did assure that he should be returning later in weekends to come. They cut to a live performance of Tina Turner the musical, instead.
The judges were shocked at the earlier announcement. Simon previously enquired: “Hang on, so the act’s not ready? It’s okay, it’s live,” with Ant quipping: “And he’s only eight years old, so back off, man!”
After having a chat with the judges, Dec explained that they would be moving onto the third act, Vinnie McKee, instead, saying: “We’re gonna have a little change of plan now. We’re going to go to something else and come back to Teddy later on.”
BGT fans quickly took to X to share their disbelief with one person writing: “Poor Teddy Magic. I hope he’s okay.” However, many viewers also sent their well wishes to the youngster.

“It just occurred to me I think Teddy was supposed to be the first act as he was first in the previews, but then the dinosaurs went first. So he’s missed two slots,” another viewer noted.
This was not the only hiccup on the first live semi final. After the first announcement regarding Teddy, the live show faced another disturbance when dance troupe The Blackouts were delayed due to a technical problem.
“Now, you are not going to believe this. We’re not quite ready,” Dec said as the judges jumped out of their seats in shock.
“We’re got a bit of a technical problem with the Blackouts, and while we sort that out, we’re going to have a chat with our judges again.”
However, the issue was resolved quickly, with the act gracing the stage shortly after. Their performance impressed the judges and audience, with Amanda pressing the golden buzzer to send the group straight through to the final.
