Tensions are rising between Ella and Chris in the Celebrity Big Brother house over his friendship with JoJo Siwa, but now his brother has given his two cents on the rift
Chris Hughes’ brother has weighed in on the ongoing feud between him and Ella Rae Wise.
Tensions in the Celebrity Big Brother house are continuing to rise as Ella continues to share the reasons for her disapproval on Chris’ friendship with JoJo Siwa. The nature of their friendship has already left housemates and viewers uncomfortable, but Ella herself is also struggling – having revealed she broke up with her TOWIE partner days before going into the show.
During this series, we’ve seen tension between Ella and Love Island star Chris, with her confiding in co-stars Danny Beard and Donna Preston what she thinks of the pair, together with Daley Thompson. Describing the duo as “game-players”, Chris and JoJo discovered what the TOWIE star made of their friendship during a game of bingo as part of the shopping task.
In Sunday’s episode (April 21), the housemates were left shocked when Ella came clean about what she had said about Chris and JoJo’s budding friendship. Chris, in turn, hit back at Ella later on, branding her “jealous” of his ability to get on so well with the Karma singer.
Fuming in the diary room in the episode, Chris explained: “She isn’t sweet on JoJo so there might be a jealously thing there. I don’t know, she likes to have her two pence worth and if she’s out of a conversation she wants to be in it.”
Now, Chris’ brother Ben has given his thoughts on the ensuing drama between the pair, chatting with Lorraine Kelly on her ITV morning show on Monday (April 21). Asked about the rift between the pair, Ben theorised that Ella has a bee in her bonnet about the situation.
“I still feel they’ve bonded so well,” Ben said of Chris and JoJo’s friendship, “they are very similar people who have a great friendship. In my point of view, I think [Ella] got jealous about their friendship and wonders why she wasn’t part of it, but I believe Daley has left the biggest bombshell and blown things out of the water.”
His thoughts came after Daley appeared to take a swipe at Chris and JoJo about their blossoming friendship. Speaking to Ella and Danny before he left the house, he told the duo to be wary of the pair, because in his mind, they had been playing up to the cameras.
“There’s some people that are really loud and there’s some people that do this professionally as a game,” Daley said at the time. There’s two people in here that do it all of the time; I think on the cameras, people will be interested in their relationship.”
Previously, Ella had cited JoJo and Chris’ reality TV history, suggesting they know how to grab attention for the cameras and branding them “social climbers” who were “playing a game”. However, fans soon blasted Ella – who herself found fame by appearing on The Only Way is Essex – a reality show.
“Ella is just bitter,” one user wrote, “Chris’ last reality show was 8 years ago; this year alone, she did 3 reality shows what the f*** is she talking about.” Whilst a second added: “Ella telling people that the reality stars are playing a game; where does Ella come from again?”
A third penned: “The fact that Ella has done more reality shows than Chris and JoJo combined?” Whilst a fourth chimed in: “Ella being critical of reality TV stars when that truly is her only talent – and all she’s known for.”
